The truth is, by the age of three I harbored no fear of supernatural monsters. I had my oldest sister to thank for this. She read science books to me, and we watched Star Trek together religiously. She immersed me in the scientific worldview, and by the glorious light of Logic, all hobgoblins and bugaboos were banished from my young reality.
